disappearing heritage

The historic Sexsmith elementary school at 7455 Ontario St. Photograph By Dan Toulgoet – See more at the Courier article.

My new focus is heritage school buildings so I am researching  their histories. I feel my interest can be the kiss of death. Above is Sexsmith School. Today I had coffee with a friend who described its demolition, which happened while I was away.

“First they took down the two newer wings. I thought the building was being returned to its original configuration. But no. I later watched the rest come down.”  Very sad.

I shall have to sketch quicker.  I never drew the old one.
